Travel to India on Opt

Hi all,

I am travelling to india on march 15 to attend my brothers Marriage. I am working under a desi consultant x to a company y. And i have heard a lot of stories and I have few questions

1) Is it safe to Travel on OPT?
2) What are the necessary documents needed to carry while on travel?
3) Do i need to carry a letter from Company Y or The letter from the X is fine?

4) how is the dallas POE?
