I recently completed my PhD (F-1 visa, August 2013) and currently working as a postdoc fellow on 12 month OPT. My OPT started in September 2013. At the time of my graduation, my PhD program was not eligible for STEM extension (CIP code 51.2099).
However, recently, the program was included into STEM category. All the current students were issued new I20 with new CIP code (51.2010) that allows STEM extension.
I was wondering If I can get CIP code changed on my I20 as well. I talked to International service office but didn't get a clear answer. They always beat around the bush and try to go for easy way out.
