I have a question. My OPT is expiring on May 20th and I need to apply for Opt Ext and wil be filing for H1b as well, BUT my passport is expiring on May 4th. Will it be a problem going with an near expired passport (OPT Ext as well as H1b). I can on the other hand get my passport manually renewed for an year with the Embassy at the place I am in. Any advice ??? Also, I am confused with the offer letter required from employer for Opt x. Is this the one we got at the start of the job, or something else ?

Shouldn't be ! But make sure you send you passport for renewal asap cause the indian consulate outsources to another company and it takes forever to renew a passportComment

1 nope .. validity of passport only needed at port of entry .. and when you go for stamping ..
2 if you are already doing job then yes the one you got when you start working ..
any way those kind of doc are needed to prove that you have a job or job offer from a e verified company in you field of study ..Comment
