Travel when OPT pending before graduation

Hi,
I applied for OPT on December 4th and my OPT starts from February 1st. My graduation date is also February 1st. I have a job offer too and will be joining them in February as soon as my EAD card comes.
Due to some personal reasons, I had to travel to India on January 10th and I am currently in India. My return flight is on 31st Jan i.e. I will be reaching US on 31st Jan. But I don't think that I will have my EAD card with me by then.
Therefor, is it safe for me to travel back to India without EAD card but with I-765 OPT receipt and a job offer. I am returning just a day before my start of OPT and graduation.
Please suggest what is best for me in this situation.

If ur convocation is still pending i think you should be fine, however re-entry without the ead is always a risky proposition

technically speaking u still on student status till u r opt start date .. if you are coming before feb1 would not be problem .. and re-enter as a student ..

What a bad advise.. it is exactly what he shouldn't do. My DSO told me it is very risky to travel while it's pending. They could think you are giving up your application and you might not receive your EAD card or be denied at the port of entry.
