Travel during OPT STEM processing
My OPT is ending this February and I have applied for my OPT STEM extension. All documents are good and I am expecting a positive response by Feb end. I got a family emergency right now and need to go to India real soon(like in a week). However I am really concerned about my OPT application as the processing is in half way and there might be some problem when I come back or it might affect the application.
For example: The port of entry or date in the application would have to be changed as there will be a different port of entry this time.
Please let me know on how to deal with this situation. Also, is it advisable to travel abroad during processing of your OPT application?
If I am going to India, I guess my school will be giving me new I20, should I submit the new I20 and other documents(new I765 form with new details, supporting documents, money order) to USCIS when I come back or now itself? (or should I submit at all?)
