A baffling situation for me on my current OPT and Future H1

Hello team DesiOpt



Firstly i appreciate the efforts of your team in helping the desi people in making their journey in USA a better and safer way.

I have a situation here.

I have graduated from mechanical engineeting and im on my OPT...it started in sept 2013 and i was running short of the 90 day period so i joined a consultacy and took the employment letter ...but i remained un employed...searching for jobs and finally now I have been approached by an independent software consulting firm who wants me to hire but is concerned for the fact that im from mechanical background.

Will it be concern that my feild of study ( mech) is a mismatch with the job profile (software) ..during my STEM extension or during my H1 visa stamping interview.??

Advice me is it better stay on OPT as i stil have time or is it better to convert to H1 as early as possible.

I would like to travel now to india once on an emergency ...is it advisable to travel now with just the employement letter from the consultncy??

I would be eagelry waiting to hear from you.

Your confirmation on these issues will settle my life in making a big decision.
