OPT and H1 ISSUE

Hi, I am a full time employee and on opt from Aug 2013. My employer doesnt want to apply for my h1 visa in April 2014. Instead they guaranteed that they will apply for my h1 in April 2015. I have been listening that h1 is lottery. My opt status will end in Jan 2016( 12+ 17 months extension). I come under stem extension and have a MS in EE degree and working in software field. Please, advice. Is changing the company an better option so that I can apply for my h1 in April 2014. Kindly advice.

If my h1 application doesnt get picked up in the second chance that is april 2015. What are my chances of staying in usa?

Yeah definately he needs to apply this year too. Just asked for a general opinion. And yes looking at the job market, deffinately will be a lottery. Not even close enough visas to support the market.

1 I strongly suggest you to apply this yr ..there are lot of people struggling bcoz of this ..
2 it will be big mess ..

Don't speculate anything regarding H1B, you will come to know if there is any lottery around March time frame.
To be on the safe side, apply H1B this year, incase you don't get it this year, you will have another chance.

The job market in my opinion is really good (and i dont even consider any consulting companies as a job option). Not enough visas, the lottery is just luck.

if u r application does not pick up in lottery and u r opt is expiring ..
