I have an urgent question with regards to my opt status and how it is affected by my acceptance into the graduate program. I have graduated from a University in USA with a bachelors degree(STEM degree) on May 2013 and my OPT period is from 7/9/2013 to 7/8/2014. I have been working with a company for a while during my OPT period, and I have applied for the graduate program for Spring 2014. I have recently been accepted into the program, and at the same time, my company would like to extend my employment with them. With that said, I want to continue with my OPT and postpone my enrollment into the university for Fall or Spring 2015. The questions that I do have are:
1) Is my OPT period forfeited because I got accepted into the graduate program? (I did not register for courses yet and I believe that I did not update my I-20 yet)
2) Is there a possibility to postpone my enrollment for Fall 2014/Spring 2015?
I know I may have to check with the ISO at my university, but I would like to hear your experiences and suggestions about this.
