Application for OPT - Still under "initial review"

Hi Everyone,

I recently graduated and have applied for OPT / Employment authorization.

Received date : 14th Nov 2013

Start date I gave : 13 Jan 2014

Status of application : Initial review as of today i.e, 8th Jan 2014.

I'm getting a little anxious here. Will I receive my EAD card on time? Has it happened before that people have received the EAD card way after the start date they mentioned?

90 days is usually the process time. On your OPT start date once contact them saying that I may loose a job. They will adjust the date any how

It is possible .. and
Uscis will adjust the date according to its approval ..
start date of EAD will be approval date or start date mentioned in application which ever is later..

The status can change in a day from initial review to card/document production so don't worry about it being in initial review. Just keep tracking it, you'll never know when it will change That said, it is possible that you get your EAD card after the mentioned start date. In that case, you can/should only start working AFTER you receive your card.

I received my EAD on Aug; however; start date was from July. My application was received by uscis in 55th day after my graduation. So, it's possible to receive EAD after start date.

I just graduated.. I also submitted on nov 14 and still i have also nt received my ead card... Its showing same ie initial review.. Hope to get it soon...

It also depends on the service center you applied. Usually, Texas is fast, I received both of my EAD in a month.

Received date 31st October..Still in initial review

My job start date is on 14th! I applied for opt on 15th augest 2013! It's still on Initial review + they said that my alien number was changed! But but the lady at my previous school looked up my file at SEVIS website and she said I'm approved!!! I have no idea what's going on I already lost so many offers and I'm still waiting! I guess my case is the longest [ since I applied in augest -.-] I'm going crazy

The lady at my previous school even gave me anew I20 with start date of 12/27/2013 -.- :"(

Received date : Nov 13, 2013, Status of application as of today, i.e., Jan 12 - card/document production .. How many days from now can I expect the card to be mailed to me ?
