Hello,
I have done my masters in CS and presently on my OPT and working as a full time. My OPT started on 27th MAY 2013 and during a job change in OCT , I have missed reporting a brief time of 3 weeks as unemployed duration and later I reported my next job. So as per my updates to my university I have 42 days of unemployment but it is 42 + 3 weeks I missed to report. Now I realized that even unemployment is to be reported separately , But I am not sure if I need to report that missing 3 weeks of time to my university as they have a guildline which gives them a right to cancel my OPT if I missed to report change of/ unemployment in less than 10 days. I am confused, as I cannot risk to allow my university to deny my OPT and also cannot risk to ignore the 3 weeks of not reported unemployment as in event of a rfe uscis can cancel my OPT.
As a side note, though my university has the guildline to update status in less than 10 days time frame , from the USCIS I have learnt that such obligation is for only STEM OPT people(I am in my 12 months OPT period). Please correct me if I have wrong information on this.
