  • Opt

Hi, I have graduated in dec 2013. I have applied for opt in October, but my opt is still in initial review. I have put my start date in jean ending. So my question is if I don't get opt till that time, on what status will I be.. And what is the maximum period that i can stay in us if I don't get my opt even after my start date has begun.
    Please help me with this.

I too fall in the same boat. I applied for OPT on October, not yet approved till today. If USCIS delays the approval beyond 90-100 days which rarely happens, I don't think there is a problem with stay or visa status. However if you plan to travel during this time, in order to re-enter the U.S. you must have OPT card (or receipt notice for the OPT
application), AND your job offer letter or proof of employment along with I20/passport.

Don't worry, give USCIS 90 days to process your application. Then you can call if there is a delay. You will be on F1 status until you are rejected
          2. You can stay 60 days if your OPT gets rejected. Nothing to do with start date
