  • Travel with EAD and Offer letter but no employers information on i-20

    Hello there,
I am a Master's student graduated in Dec, I had my i-20 signed in the month of Oct. Right now I just got my EAD card and an Offer Letter. I am planning to travel to India on 31st of this month and coming back in Jan itself. Can you please tell me is it okay to travel with no employer information on it..?
    Really appreciate your help
    Thanks

I dont know if i20 with opt is supposed to have employer name, what i heard is , opt + ead+offer letter is sufficient/required for re-entry.

You can have the name of the employer in your I-20. The DSO usually updates the employer name if you have an offer letter. In our University, they update it when we apply for our OPT if we already have a job in hand.

Just inform to your DSO and they will update the information automatically and then you do not need to have the employer name on I20, what you need is valid I20, EAD and employer letter sometimes.

One more thing I would suggest is to have your I20 signed for travel from your international office.

I am in the same situation , but I do have an offer says internship , it could be a problem for re-entry ?

opt i-20 does not have employer information anyway.. just dates when opt is valid.. i-20 and visa is all you need to re-enter, i was not even asked for opt card on arrival..

mine has employer information for the previous CPT i have held.. i have never heard of anyone having employer details for opt since you can change at will (unless its opt extension where you can be employed by only eVerified employer)
