Doubts regarding OPT

I have had this confusion for a while now. MY opt started in Sept this year. I have joined a consultancy in November (after 60 days). After I read the posts about the denials of extensions, I've asked my consultant to run my payroll within the completion of 90 days. But he said it is not necessary.

As for now, I'm on an unpaid internship. Should we have a payroll activity within the first 90days of OPT period ? Is it compulsory ?


PS : My OPT application has to go Nebraska center

It is not necessary to work for money during initial 12 months of OPT...But it is always safe to get paid. As we have seen some issues, ask your employer to run the payroll....
It is not compulsory but it is good

With recent nebraska events you better to have pay checks .. even it is 100$ per.check

Yes make sure u get ur pay roll running with minimum amt cos uscis (esp nebraska )is denying unpaid days even though there is a rule sayin u can stay unpaid fr first 12 months
