Unpaid employment on OPT

Hello folks,
i'm currently on my OPT which started on Feb 2013,undergoing training for a course in an IT consultancy.since i haven't got a job yet ,my payroll is not being run.i'd like to know if it's legal to do unpaid work in a IT consultancy as a trainee.thanks in advance.

I got a letter from the consultancy offering a position as an analyst and stating that it's an unpaid position.will that suffice?does an 1-9 form have to be filled for unpaid positions?

Not as a trainee ..FLSA does not allow it ..
but u can show it as unpaid intern and there are so many rules involved in it
reed more about unpaid intern for for-profit companies ..
