• OPT Validity for 10 months - experience

I got my Card after 3 months of initial review(@ California Center). The expiry date is 10 months from the start date. I thought it would be for 12 months from the start date(i.e, card production date). Called USCIS and reported the case. Got a mail from USCIS asking me to send the card, I765 application and a letter stating the error. Did that, got back the card within 10 days. No changes were made, I now have OPT valid for 10 months. Reason given was:
The expiry date will be:
1) 12 months from card production date
OR
2) 14 months from date of Graduation.
WHICHEVER IS EARLIER.
In my case, option 2 was earlier. I was not aware of the second one. Incase if you got a validty period of less than 12 months, this might be the reason.

Good Luck All...
