I-94 based on H4 Valid after divorce?

Hi,

I'm currently on H4 visa and my I-94 (based on h4 visa)expires in February 2016.

Is my I-94 valid after divorce? Can I live in this country and apply for a change of status from H4 to F1 before I-94 expires?

Am I legal to do that?
