H1b visa transfer from nonprofit to profit companies

Hey All,
Three months back I got my H1b visa through my non profit research institute. Is there any way to transfer to other profit companies, if the company is ready to apply my H1 in coming April then is it true I can't start working till October? Is there any better to switch to profit companies? any suggestions will be appreciated!!

A 'for-profit' company cannot file a Cap-exempt H1B, if you haven't been counted against the H1B Cap in the past.

You will not be able to start working until October if the petition is filed in the H-1B cap.
The only other option is to continue working for the non-profit research institute and work part-time concurrently for the for-profit organization (Concurrent H-1B).
You can work for them part-time until October and if your H-1B was chosen in the cap and then approved, you can start working full-time for the for profit organization.
