is indian citizen exempt from 6 month rule on passport for h1b stamping

Hello Guys

Travel Docs says: For your Visa Application Centre appointment, you will need to bring:

A passport valid for travel to the United States with validity dates at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the United States (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions).

Now I plan on going for stamping in October 2016. My visa is valid till Sept 2017 and Passport till December 2017.


Will this be ok for stamping or do I need to renew my passport beore going for stamping? is indian citizen exempt from 6 month rule on passport for h1b stamping? Problem is that you cannot renew passport 1 year before expiry.

Please let me know about this asap.
