Passport validity for H1B

My passport is expiring in July. I recently got a chance to work with an employer who will be filing for my H1B. Is there a condition that the passport must be valid for 6 months from 1st of April (date that my H1B application will ideally go out?)

I am staying with my relatives as of now. What is the best possible address proof that I can give for the passport renewal if I apply now for the renewal? I do have a driver's license where I applied for change of address. But they do not issue a new copy with the changed address.

If I apply for H1B with my current passport and apply for renewal later, will I have any issue later on?
