Didn't get selected in H1b Lottery for the second time. I have the option to go for PhD in the same university and alongside do a part-time (20 hour) CPT since my professor cannot provide full funding at this time. Also, my employer said they will continue to file for my H1B and if I get selected next year, I can switch to H1B and continue PhD part time. Is this something that can create problems for me in the future? My university is accredited and is allowing CPT only because I completed masters from there. Please help. If I don't take part-time CPT, I won't be able to afford PhD.
