Cap-Gap is a name for extension of work authorization given to OPT students whose OPT (extension) is expiring between Apr 1 and Oct 1 to be able to keep working for their employer for the period if their H1b is selected for processing in the lottery.
Your ISO will give you the Cap-Gap approval and extensions on provision of proofs that your H1b has been filed in time.
