Hi, Query regarding H1B under Masters Quota

Hi,

I have completed my Masters from a state university under J1 visa (I was not eligible to apply for OPT/CPT) and got the degree. After finishing that degree I'm currently doing a certification from another university and will apply for OPT after studying for 9 months. If I apply for H1B visa will I come under Masters Quota as I have Masters degree from an american state university or is Masters quota only for students who are currently applying through OPT where they did their Masters ???

As your Master’s degree is from a U.S. university, you are eligible for the Master’s Quota or Master’s Cap. Make sure you don’t have any issues with the 2-year-home-residency requirement.

You will have to apply for J1 waiver first IF your visa stamp states " two year residency rule does apply " .
