H1 transfer and extension

Hello DesiOPT,

I got H1 approved, but only for one year. It started on Oct 1, 2014 and will end on Sept 30, 2015. I am planning on changing my employer now. How long do I have to wait after I got my H1, to change my employer to be safe? Also, as my H1 will expire soon, I again have to apply for extension. Is there any chance that both H1 transfer and Extension can be done at the same time. If so, when should I do that.

Another question is regarding H1 stamping. My marriage is in Dec 2015 and I am planning to visit India then. Can I go to stamping to any other place than India? What would be a best choice for stamping. Your help is very much appreciated.

There is no minimum time to wait to file a transfer. If you have found a new job and your new employer is willing to file the H-1B, they can file the transfer. However, a transfer and extension can be filed at the same time if you want to wait.
Since you presumably have a U.S. degree, Canada is a good option for visa stamping.
