I am currently employed and in a contract with my employer for 3 years which they made me sign prior to filing my H1B. They also made me sign an addendum which states that I need to pay them a certain amount if I terminate the contract. I am not sure if this contract is legally valid or not. Can I move to a different employer? Can my current employer create problems for me in any way legally? Please advice and share your experiences. Thanks much!

First of all u need to be loyal to your employer. For the sake of H1b you signed the agreement and invited trouble all by yourself!! .
Yes, they can go legally but most of them don't do that. Please try to have discussion with your employer and sort it out. Do not mess it up is what i would suggest.
