H1 Transfer

Hello all,

This is a hypothetical question. Yet I would appreciate if you could answer.

I'm about to complete my Masters in "A(Not IT)". Since most core companies ain't ready to sponsor for H1, I am forced to take the route to a consultancy. Let's say that I choose to work in SAS and with some luck I get a H1 visa. My question here is

- Is it possible to transfer the H1 petitioned for SAS to a core company in case I am offered a job?

I was told since my core "A" is in a different domain compared to SAS, companies won't be able to do H1 transfer. Appreciate all of your help!

If your degree qualifies you to do SAS but you find a job in “core” field that your degree also qualifies you for, you can transfer. There is no restriction or rule that says you have to stay in one industry or field once you get the H-1B. The question is: does your degree qualify you for SAS in the first place?

You need to get an Education + Experience credential foreign equivalency evaluation to support the H1B petition and you should not have any problem with Non-It educational background. In fact, most engineering degrees have Computer courses..You might get a RFE but at the end it depends on the employer and the way he presents the case.
