Applying H1B without Masters Degree certificate?

Hello Desi OPT,


I have been really grateful for DESI OPT for solving lot of my questions.
Currently I am in a situation where I have finished all of coursework, started working on OPT since last 5 months and I am yet to defend my thesis.
I will possibly defend my thesis by the end of next month or it may take up to January. My OPT ends on 19th May 2014 and to apply for H1 my company needs my Masters degree. I may not receive my masters degree till the end of May but I can get a letter from my college that I have finished everything including my thesis once I finish it.


1. Please guide me whether I will be eligible for Masters quota for H1 and or CAP gap period which will start on 19th April 2015.
2. Also, can I apply for STEM extension (my company is everified).
I am really worried using lot of my vacation time going to and fro to university to finish up my thesis work. Please do let me know! It will be a big help!

No. You need to complete everything to apply H1.. previously they allowed letters from university but now they are rejecting applications.. you can apply for stem extension.. make sure you run payroll properly or say that your working as unpaid intern..

You cannot apply for H1b in masters cap without the degree and though you can apply in general and also in parallel you can apply for opt stem fir that also you need your masters degree
