  • What should I do if I fill out the overtime which is more than 40 hours??

    Hi,

    I am a masters students currently doing CPT. I am hired by an agency but work for another company. The agency pays me by week. I did not notice that I can only work for 40 hours in the first place and my manager approved my overtime. Yet, on my contract with the agency it says that I am not eligible for the hours bonus. I have been doing this internship for 8 weeks, 4 of which I filled out the overtime.

    Now I am worrying that this overtime might affects my F-1 status and future H1B application. What should I do now? Should I talk to the agency, or my manager? Should I tell my advisor at school? Or will I be punished because I violated the contract?

    Could somebody give me some advice? Thanks a lot for your help!

        Most of the employers don't mention the hours of work in the paystub !They will mention only the dates, If your employer also didn't mention the hours then you will be fine !

          Yes they do not but hourly rate is the part of the pay stub. Based on that they can calculate easily any overtime done.

            1) Talk to u r agency or u r manger explain u r situation clearly. they will give u suggestion what to do or what not to do

              You say you are not eligible for any extra hours bonus and if still you are made to work it's the Agency at fault. Best option discuss it with your DSO and stop working any extra hours immediately. Also question your contractor why are you made to work extra hours when the client contract says your ineligible.

              It's your career and it's for you to decide what you gotta do.

                Ask them to run fixed pay .. And remaining amount as bonus

                  There is no rule that you shud not work more than 40hrs in CPT as long as you are comfortable.. Talk to your international centre advisors before talking any step.!!
