Switch after H1B approval before October 1st?

Dear All,

I filed my H1B for the first time this April under premium processing. If my H1b gets approved, then can I switch to a new company(i.e transfer my H1B to a new company) before October 1st? When can I exactly switch - After I get an I-797 form?

I am not sure you can transfer your approved H-1 B to the other company if you switch before October. Because you can't official request a h1b transfer unless it starts. Again I could be wrong but as far as I know that's how it works.
