Hope you guys can help with my question.
Below is a brief on my situation. There are a few hypothetical scenarios but I've kept it simple and put everything in a chronological fashion starting from the 1st day of my OPT period:
1) I was unemployed for the first 75 days in OPT
2) Then went to a consultant and updated the info with International Students Office (ISO)
3) The consultant began running the payroll on the 89th day of my OPT
4) I joined a contract job on 123rd day of my OPT
5) Meanwhile I got a Full-Time role and I quit my contract job on the 180th day with an offer letter in hand.
6) Consultant has stopped running the payroll on 180th day as well
7) I've given the start date for my Full-time role as 240th day (Set to fall on March 15th 2014)
8) Just before I quit my contract job I register myself for a volunteering work with a professor I know
So my questions are
1) Is it safe to travel to India now (190th day to 240th day)? I will be able to justify that I worked for my professor from remote in India, because of the fact that the nature of my work with him permits that.
2) Will there be an issue with my H1B processing given that I've been a paid employee and then an unpaid volunteer/intern??
3) Also will the company have enough time to process my H1B given the fact that I'll be joining so close to April, when the H1B processing actually happens?
I am sorry for such a lengthy post but it'd really helpful if some of you can help me out.
