    Hi,
    I came to USA on B1/B2 visa and applied for H1B in april 2013, fortunately I got my H1B and it got activated yesterday i.e., 10/1/2013.
    In Aug 11th 2013 I went to Khol's shopping and did shop lifting of ear rings of $70 and was caught and jailed for 1 night, I have my court tomorrow ie., 10/3/2013
    Now my main issue is I will be applying for my SSN and driving license by this month end. And will start marketing my resume, please let me know if this one will show on my SSN and will I have a bad credit history and in background check will it show up in companies thy recruit.
    Will I get a job?
    Please let me know

        At the time of arrest what details did you give? Being that both SSN and driving license was not available.

            As Far as i know, if both DL and SSN is not there, Probably they could have marked it on your passport. Please mention what details you gave

              No whatever happens before your License and SSN will not be recorded. You will come out with a fine. No problem. When ever you go to court let them know that you are guilty and it was made for fun and it turned out to be bad.

                Well I had a colleague who din spend a nite in jail n was in a similar situation but it still came up in his check because of his passport. But yes do let the court know that you were guilty and will not be doing it again.

                          See shoplifting is generally considered a misdemeanor (petit theft or larceny) if the value of the merchandise is less than $200.In many states and jurisdictions, the police, prosecutors and judges have the option to offer first-time offenders an opportunity to complete community service, an education program or other type of alternative sentencing program in lieu of a harsher sentence. So that is the reason why I asked him to plead guilty.

                              How stupid are you? you came all the way to USA for shoplifting.pity you.any ways here's one suggestion two of my roommate has been in same situation as you are and came through it few months later through the help of a attorney.Its the best thing to do now.Don't worry
