My Sevis got terminated and it's been 6months now.i got admitted into the same college recently.do I need to cross the border to be in status again.i have a valid f1 visa.kindly help me.

Due to less Gpa i was terminated from my university.I requested for reinstatement but said its more than 5months and its not possible for reinstatement.Same university gave new admission now and said to cross the border and come back with in 30days prior to new i20 date.Is it mandatory to cross the border now?and iam realy worried because they may stop me at the border.Kindly help me.
