I'm entering to do masters. My employer would be sponsoring the efforts. I know we can't work off campus during the course of study but can I use health insurance coverage from my employer? Can they extend my coverage for the study period ? I'm of course asking this because I'll be under a better health coverage plan than what I have to opt with my university. Can I use health benefits from my employer ? Would it be legal and allowed ? Or do I have to only use coverage of what I get from the university. Can I opt out from the university health insurance program ? Would it raise red flags if I use the benefits from my old employer ? ( old or ex as I no longer would be working with them ). Any clarifications appreciated. Apologies if I've confused anyone.

First of all, how can you use the health insurance of ur employer if ur no longer working with them. You employers insurance will get void once you resign. I am not sure if that insurance will be valid. Having said that most universities will have a set a certain minimums on what kind of coverage you need to have , if your health insurance is covering that much then its fine. But at the end it would not be wise to have any discerpancy with your health insurance coverage in US . It might not hurt you leagally but can be problematic when you actually need it.

it is manditory to have insurance in usa .few universities will ask to have health insurance from university only and few universities will wave off the fee after paying the insurance for which you have to submit the proof of insurance which should meet the requirements .it does not matter who pays for the insurance whether you or your employer but you should be covered with insurance
