  • Urgent: F1 student attacked by black American, Help

    Hello all
    I am student from india with f1 status studing in harrisburg
    University. Last week i was been attacked
    by an unidentified person who was black
    American with the motive of robbery. I was
    attacked several times by a huge woden log.
    Basically the area of my attack was supposed
    To be my head but since i tried to cover
    My head with my arms,as a result my left
    Arm got fractured.EVen my back and my
    rest of my body was hurt badly.Later i was
    Taken by the police to the emergency.In
    Couple of days i will have my hand surgery.
    Unfortunately my health insurance was
    Expired ..kindly guide in this scenerio
    What would be the advantages and disadvantages
    Of this entire situation
    Kindly guide with the laws.

            I'm sorry to hear about your suffering. It os however, mandatory that all F1 students should maintain a valid health insurance at all times during their stay in the country. Legally, you are in trouble because it's a status violation. However, if you can give a reasonable explanation as in why you did not renew it after expirey, you can take the state's assistance. Talk to your student services, they must help you navigate the system. The hospitals usually write off some expenses as a sign of good will and charity. Also, please follow other suggestions here and start a fundraiser.

              Sorry to hear that. Student Services should help you. On the brighter side you can apply for a green card since you are a victim of crime.

                  Check in your state there will be victim compensation program. Also apply for U visa

                    You can file U visa and get greencard also the compensation amount in future
