COS while H-4 visa expiring in August

Hello Friends ,

My H-4 visa expires on 30th August, and I have applied for COS in May.

1.)So do I need to file my H-4 extension also as my H-4 will expire in August ?
2.) Can I start college in August while COS is Pending and h-4 expired ? Or Should I wait until it gets approved ?

Please share your opinion on this matter.
