  • F1 Re-Stamp in India

Hi, I am on OPT Extension right now valid till 02nd Nov 2016 but my F1 visa is expired on 31st Aug 2015. I am going to India on 12th Nov 2015 for my wedding which falls on 27th Nov 2015. I need to get my visa stamped again and also I have to apply for F2 dependent visa for my spouse. If I get F2 I20 from my University now (i.e. before marriage), I also will get an updated I20. Would I20 of mine contain the information that I am single or married? Because I am applying for my visa in India before marriage and in DS160 I have to declare that I am single and not married but the I20 that I will submit, will contradict the DS160 marital status? If that I20 does not have that info then I think I'm good. And when my spouse appears for her visa interview, she would possess the marriage certificate dated 27th Nov 2015 and my marital status declaration as above would affect her? I am kind of confused with the marriage date being later, and the F2 I20 issue date is earlier and the form DS 160 would have me with status as single whereas my I20 SEVIS would say that I have a dependent visa at the time of my visa re-stamp. Can anyone please advise how to go about on this and what are the actions should I consider for this? Please respond.
PS: I am employed fulltime and I am getting letters from University, Employer and Client and also I will have financial documents and paystubs ready.

A U.S. visa is solely for entering the U.S. You would only need to get a visa again if you leave the U.S. and need to re-enter the U.S. And if you leave the U.S., you can get a U.S. visa at the U.S. consulate in whatever place you go. In the case where your trip out of the U.S. will be too short for you to get a U.S. visa or where the country requires you to have a U.S. visa before they will give you a visa, you could try to go to Canada or Mexico to get a U.S. visa if that's convenient.
