FNU as my First Name

Hi,I have fnu as my first name. This fnu is mentioned in SSN and state ID have nonamegiven as first name.
When I went for drivers written test they asked to remove the fnu and then come back.

1. Should I have to change the name in passport. Or what should be done. Plz help

ISS should be able to help you out. One of my friend had same problem and International Student and Scholars office directly contacted local DMV to clarify on his behalf. This situation probably arise because Immigration Dept. and DMV has no direct working connection. You should not need to change your name on passport , you may run into more trouble that way.

I have FNU in my name aswell, i been to a lot of different states and figured it out after little research that it depends on state laws,some states accept FNU as first name and they put the same on the Drivers license and some others dont.

so what they usually do is, they leave the first name section blank and put the whole name in the last name section (happened in my case),if in case they dont do it you can request by showing the valid legal documents as passport,visa and SSN.
