LOST Indian Passport - F1 Visa

Hello,

I just lost my Indian passport with F1 visa in SF, California. I was not able to find the passport despite extensive search. The entire handbag containing all my student ID, Credit, debit cards, Money is gone along with my Indian passport. My flight to India was tomorrow morning and unfortunately I wont be able to go in it. I request urgent help in understand how soon I can get a new Indian passport and VISA stamped in expedited mode San Francisco and what is the procedure for the same? Ths is urgent and I need to fly to India somehow this winter break. Please help with Advice!

Looking forward to receive some helpful pointers to apply for passport and visa and make it to India this time. Also, the Indian Embassy here seems to be closed. Please give detailed instruction on what I can do to get through this bad incident

The only way to get the passport is through the embassy. The consulate in San Francisco is not closed. Did you try going there? Here are the instructions on obtaining a passport: http://www.cgisf.org/page/display/189/231. You will need to go to the Consulate between 9 and 12 to get an emergency passport. You may want to report your passport as stolen or lost to the local police authorities and get the police report so that you have proof that you no longer have your passport.
You cannot get a new visa in the U.S. You will need to get a new visa at the U.S. Consulate when you go back to India.

First things first go to the nearest police station and register a complaint as it is used for all official records.
The next step is to apply for a duplicate with the Indian consulate .
There is nothing you can do for your flight so soon and basically have to wait for the consulate..it took about two weeks for my friend.
And the next time you come to India you need to go for visa stamping.

I had ;lost passport so I came to India to renew VISA...I got passport from SFO USA..

Go to the nearest Indian Consulate immediately and submit the paper the paper work to get new passport and you can't get the visa stamping within the US , you need to go to India !
