Do F-1 visa interview in Canada but with lots of proof of your ties to your home country. To do a change of status in the U.S., you cannot even approach schools for at least 2 months after you enter on B-2, or your application can be denied for fraudulent intent. Once you are here for 60 days, only then can you apply to schools and then try to file the Change of Status before the 6 months are up. Then, you can only start school once the change of status is approved. It usually takes 2-3 months, but it can take longer.
If you come to the U.S. in B-2 status after you have already gotten admission, you still have to wait at least 2 months before filing the COS application; you can’t start school until it’s approved. Also, even if you wait for 2 months before you file it, immigration can still accuse you of fraudulent intent (coming to the U.S. as a visitor when the real reason was just to change status).

            1. Personally i feel going for F1 visa is a better option rather than changing status from b1/ b2 to f1. U have to go through many hurdles if you change from b1/b2 to F1 here in USA is what am aware of

Consider changing status from B1/B2 to F1 as 2nd option !Go for a stamping in Canada for F1 !

even if u get approved while you are in US the F-1 won't be for multiple entry so if you travel outside you will have to go through consulate, and here the process is slow hence if it takes more than 6+ months to get approved you will lose your b1/b2
