  • Port of entry

    Hi,

My destination is in California and I want to go to new york first before starting with my studies to meet my friends,so would there be any issue during the immigration since my port of entry would be different from my destination?

    Thanks.

they will surely raise this question, you can say "you are here to visit some friend or family.

In case if you say if you have connecting flight they will check into that whether you really have connecting flight.

It does not matter if your port of entry is different than your destination. Just keep all supporting documents with you . (i.e. your relatives'/friends' full address, what is your tentative plan for that particular time frame ) apart from basic immigration questions , I was asked following questions in 2009.1. When is your next flight? 2. Which airlines 3. What does your friend do ?

Sometimes u might get into trouble, a friend of mine was stopped and questioned for hour and a half because she had a different port of entry.
Make sure u have all the supporting documents handy to show when an officer questions you.
