Travelling while on OPT extension with a damaged Visa/Passport

Hello,

I cam currently on F1 visa. I accidentally water-damaged my visa/passport. Now, I am travelling to India next month.

I have a couple of questions regarding this-
Since I have graduated, will it be an issue if I apply for a F1 re-stamping in India. What are my chances?
How can I convince the Visa officer that I am not a potential immigrant and that I would return after completion of my extension period? Has anyone been in a similar situation?

My F-1 visa is valid until 2016 and my OPT extension is valid until July, 2015.

Contact Indian embassy they will issue a passport.
1. No issues. You will be good
2. You don't need to convince just he will issue the visa

Aamaged passport is classified further based on the extent of damage, i.e.: Damaged Passport - Passport number is readable, name is legible and photo is intact Damaged beyond recognition

Q6:My passport booklet is damaged. I want to go abroad on urgent basis. What should I do?
A:In case your passport has not been damaged beyond recognition, i.e. passport number is legible, name is legible and photo is intact, then you can apply for reissue of passport under the Tatkaal scheme. But, if passport has been damaged beyond recognition, then you cannot apply under the Tatkaal scheme. In that case, you need to visit Passport Officer at your nearest Passport Seva Kendra to get the passport on urgent basis.

You could apply for OPT if you just have the copies of the Visa and passport (before damage).

I have copies of the Visa and Passport but my copy of Visa do not show port of entry seal.
Although I have I94 which is electronic generated.

No problem. My Visa copy too did not show a port of entry seal, but I still got my OPT and OPT stem extension approved without RFE query. Also, find out if your university has copies of your VISA with entry seal. They usually take copies of student's VISA and I94 at the time of orientation.

But address on my damaged passport is rental address which is no longer valid.

Enter the new address in the passport application. I will do the same when I apply for one as my address too has changed. See below link for damaged passport info-

If u r visa is not damaged then u just need new passport .. If u r visa damaged then u need stamping if u want to travel .. Remember there is always risk involved if u go for stamping

If your visa stamp is bad then go for stamping first to CANADA if there any gaps in your education. Restamping must not be an issue... God Luck
