• MIS or University shifting?

Hi all, my friend got visa last week on biotech engg in univ of houston, but he wants to shift to IT related course so planning for MIS but i think in that univ it doesn't come under STEM program, so what you guys prefer, is there any other university in Texas for this or what to do, he is coming in december for spring admission.

Let me know, thanks in advance

Is he looking to Change University and Program?

Is he interested to change program in the same university?

Did your friend has I-20 from other university? This will take time and there are deadlines.

What is the reason for change? Is it for STEM or interest in IT.

My Friend has only one i-20 univ of houston clear lake, Biotech engg program he got admitted, and got visa, traveling on december 20th to usa.

There is no much opportunities in in biotech engg in MS in his university and also after finishing MS, since he did bachelors in same program so he applied to it and got visa, now he wants to go in IT field for job purpose so he wants to join MS in that program. if he shift to IT related branch in same university then fine. i found MIS in IT related and little easy but it does not come under opt STEm, so he will have only 1 year period, no 17 months extension. so what can be other departments he can move and he does not have IT back ground so looking for easy courses.
do you think shifting university is option if it has easy IT related program in It? or staying in the same university? let me know please.

if he do biotech engineering now and shift to IT for job purpose then he will get H1 query when he applies, so please recommend
