Questions about expired F1 Visa and OPT?

My girlfriend doesn’t have reddit so she texted this to me to ask. She’s from Italy if that makes a difference:

My F1 expired when I graduated, and I’m about to start a job on OPT. 1) Do I NEED to renew my visa to start my job 2) Most importantly, can I renew it from the US so I will be able to travel internationally? How do i renew it? Who can I even call about this?
