You need to be working for at least 20 hours per week for the volunteer work to be counted as employment for the OPT. You could look around the faculty to see if there are opportunities for unpaid work connected with your academic discipline, or check notice boards and the local paper for local volunteering opportunities. My problem is that I am completing my MS in cs with in a year like 11 months would it be a problem in my opt period like do I get opt and ead card period like remaining all other people.

Hi,

I am on my post graduation OPT and my 90 day period is going to expire in 25 days whereas, I am actively interviewing with a few companies and am in the hiring process. How can I extend my OPT through volunteer work to still be legally eligible for the opportunities that I am already pursuing? How should I try to get volunteer work?
