  • Community college/University recommendations near Dallas area

I think i might have posted this in wrong topic last time, hence re-posting in F1-VISA thread.

I am seeking recommendations on conversion from H-4 to F-1 to be eligible for OPT in the shortest time period. Have following questions:

    1. Your recommendations on community college/Universities that offer short term programs for conversion from h-4 to f-1, to be eligible for CPT/OPT asap in Dallas Fortworth area. Any course recommendations?
    2. There are several short-term certification programs. But can a certification program give OPT?

    Your feedback appreciated.

There is no such thing as shortest way to get opt based on college selection. No matter where you enroll, you need to complete at least an associate degree to be eligile for opt.

Only schools that are certified by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program are authorized to accept International students. You can use this page to make sure the school you are interested in is certified.

Check eligibility for OPT as per ICE.gov

                3.1. What is OPT?
OPT is training that is directly related to an F-1 student’s major area of study. It is intended to provide a student with practical experience in his or her field of study during or upon completion of a degree program.

3.2. Who is eligible for OPT?
An F-1 student who has attended an SEVP-certified college, university, conservatory, or seminary on a full-time basis for at least one academic year may be authorized for up to 12 months of OPT per education level.
However, F-1 students who have one year or more of full-time curricular practical training are not eligible for OPT for that degree.
