Currently I am doing Summer Internship and it ends on 20th August 2013. I have filled for an extension but it seems I cannot enroll for the CPT since there cant be any registration for FALL2013 from 12/9 to 20/9. Also the company I am associated with will terminate my extension if the new I20 is not submitted till 20th August since my Summer CPT ends on 20th August . But the reason given is that they cannot continue my CPT is because it is a federal law that the CPT should be continuous. However, many of my friends in other companies can take leave after 20th August till they do not receive the new I20. Is there any law governing this case that the CPTs should be continuous and if not the internship should be terminated?
