Hello, I'd be opting for a 20 hours (Part Time) CPT whilst obtaining my Masters Degree. Can I be a W2 employee for my company ? Can I keep my insurance benefits ? Has anyone else gone through this situation?

So while on CPT, you have to be student ideally on F1 status and cant be full time employee for any organisation
Once visa changes to employment status ( H1-B) then you can consider being on their W2

I bit confused on what you mean by "I be on 1099"... if you are on F1 and CPT...
