  • Travel with cpt i20 that has h1b approval notice

    hello all,

I am a masters student yet to graduate and currently in India for the summer. I am returning to work on cpt in Aug. My cpt i20 has the DSO travel signature but it also has h1b approval details. The SEVIS system has been wrongly updated as a change of status with a start date of oct 01 but in reality its a consular processing case(received i797b)

Will i face any issues at the POE?

    thanks

My latest I-20 attached with this email shows that I have an approved H-1B under "Change of Status/ Cap Gap Extension", which does not align to my current H-1B Loose/ Consular Notification Approval Notice (attached I-797B notice). There is no I-94 card attached with the notices which proves that it is a Consular Processing Case and not a Change of Status case. Unlike the Change of Status, which results in an automatic change of status on 10/01/2013, the loose approval remains inactive until you travel outside of the U.S. to apply for an H-1B visa stamp and re-enter in said status.
