Hello,
I am working for a technology company in california. I did not get my H1B till last year so I enrolled in MBA program to continue my employment. Now this year in 2016, I got selected into H1B lottery and my H1B is approved which will be in effect from october 1st 2016. However, my CPT for current quarter is ending on september 24th 2016. So I have one week of GAP in between. So I have 2 options.
1. dont register for any more classes and drop out of the MBA program on 24th september and take leave of absence from work for 1 week and then resume work on october 1st.
2. Register for fall classes and get the new CPT approved and then after october 1st, take a deferral from the MBA program as anyways from october1st I will be on H1.
I am more inclided towards 2nd option. Is there any risk associated with this option if I take a deferral after 1st october? Will this kind of question will come during my H1 stamping that why did you drop/deferral the MBA from october 1st only?
Thanks,
