Gap between CPT end date and OPT start date

I am on an F-1 visa in my final semester. I will start working on a full-time CPT next month but it is valid only until August 31st. Meanwhile, I will also apply for a post-completion OPT which will start on September 25th. There is a gap of 3 weeks and I don't want to take a leave from the office since it is a new job. What are my options for working during that gap of three weeks at the office? Should I apply for pre-completion OPT for that 1 month?

You cannot work without a valid work permit. I am sure your employer will understand.
