I currently hold OPT from school A which will expire at the end of Feb. I plan to apply for school B which offer day 1 CPT in the middle of Jan.
My question is about the gap of a couple of days between SEVIS release from school A and the issue of new CPT from school B.
According to my understanding, once the SEVIS record is released from school A, my OPT will be terminated automatically and I'm not allowed to work until get my new CPT.
During this gap, can I take paid leave? Or it has to be unpaid leave?
